Alamo - Lavern Cecil Walker 84, passed away on Thursday, October 10,2024 at Edinburg Regional Hospital in Edinburg. He was born on November 6,1939 to Cecil and Ruth Walker in Michigan. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Susan Walker, Sons Bradley (Betty) Walker, Brian (Pam) Walker, grandchildren Matthew (Bambi Black) Walker, Heather (Jsaon) Morris, Brittany (Anthony) Reckling and Taylor (Daniel) Donahue, great-grandchildren Piper Walker, Arabella Kuck, Alana Kuck, Rylie Reckling, Hailey Reckling and baby Donahue (due in April), sister Sandy (Gerry) Lawford and many nieces and nephews. Vern was proceeded in death by his parents and Brothers Thomas, Richard and John Walker. Before retiring to Texas, Vern was an avid hunter and spend many memorable moments at the family property (Walker Woods) in Harrisville, MI. During retirement Vern and Susan were frequent cruisers and obtained the level of Diamond Cruisers (200+days) on Carnival Cruises. Vern's favorite part of cruising was trying the local beer at the many different ports of call that they visited. Walker will be cremated at Val Verde Crematory in Donna. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Amador Funeral Home - Dimas L. Amador, Funeral Director 1201 E. Ferguson Ave in Pharr.
