Darrell Lee Kauffman

Alamo - Darrell Kauffman was born on December 31,1947 in Turlock, Ca.( the 1st New Year Baby in Turlock) and passed away on December 9,2020 in Edinburg ,Texas. He was the son of Lester and Rhelta Kauffman. He graduated from Lyle High School in Lyle, Washington in 1968 and enlisted in the United States Army where he was deployed to Vietnam and served until 1971. Upon returning to the states he was stationed in White Sands, New Mexico where he continued his military career as a radar equipment repair tech which eventually took him to Mary Ester, Florida where he was active in the United States Army reserves. Darrell re-enlisted into the united States Army in 1975 and served in Germany until 1977 where he retured to Texas and became a Go Badge Ring Recruiter. Darrell was shipped all across the United States to offer his services to other recruiting battalions. He was quite the teacher. Darrell had an amazing military career full of honors and recognitions that he  would receive over his 26 years of service for our great nation and retired in 1993. Darrell married Dawn Kauffman on Nevember 30,1979, where he would begin his family. Dawn and Darrell most recently celebrated 41 years of marriage. Darrell is survived by his wife Dawn and his 3 children Damon and Lisa Knapp, Daniel and Jessica Kauffman and his Daughter Devon and Jay Farkas along with eight grandchildren. Darrell has two sisters Shirley and Ron Hubbard and Janice Hutchins both from Wenatchee, Washington and many other nieces , nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents and 2 nieces.Darrell was an avid camper and especially enjoyed fishing, reading and gardening. Later in his life Darrell was employed at Midwest in Kalamazoo,Mi where he took his  mechanical expertise into the restaurant equipment repair industry in which he really enjoyed.Most ofall Darrell looked forward to going to Texas every winter. The funeral for Darrell will take place on December 30,2020 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mi.
